Briton Killed by Ruto’s Motorcade Suffered Multiple Trauma Injuries
An autopsy on the body of 79-year-old British philanthropist Edgar Charles Frederick, who was fatally struck by President William Ruto’s motorcade on Thursday, suggests he may have been run over multiple times.
Pathologist Daniel Zuriel, who conducted the post-mortem, revealed that Edgar suffered multiple fractures and severe trauma, particularly to his head and chest.

“He had extensive injuries to the chest and head. His ribs on the left side were completely crushed, along with his hip,” Zuriel stated.
Findings indicate that Edgar was likely struck by one vehicle before being run over by others in the convoy. Witnesses reported that the tragic accident occurred near Adams Arcade along Ngong Road as Ruto’s motorcade headed to a public engagement in Kibra.
Edgar had reportedly traveled to Kenya to visit his sister and nephew. At the time of the accident, he was believed to be crossing the road, possibly en route to a mosque for prayers. Some accounts suggest he may have had a hearing impairment, which could have contributed to the incident.
The driver of the government vehicle involved, attached to the Nairobi Regional Coordinator’s office, was arrested and later released on cash bail pending further investigations.
Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri confirmed that Edgar’s family and the British High Commission in Nairobi had been notified. His body is expected to be repatriated to the United Kingdom for burial.
