Body Of Woman Who Bought Boyfriend Car with Loan Discovered in Thicket
The body of Lydia Tokesi, a 29-year-old Moi University graduate who vanished on January 4, was discovered in Gataka Forest, Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, on Sunday, January 12.
Family members identified Tokesi’s clothes at the scene after detectives located a mutilated body in the thicket. The remains showed severe signs of torture, with parts of the body missing. A DNA test is being conducted to confirm the identity.
“The condition of the body was horrific. We couldn’t recognize her. We’re now waiting for DNA results,” said her brother, Daniel Shikoli.
Strained Relationship and Mysterious Disappearance
According to the family, Tokesi was last seen with her boyfriend of over eight years on January 4. It is alleged that she had taken a bank loan to purchase a vehicle for him, which he used as a taxi in Nairobi. However, the vehicle was later found abandoned near her parents’ home, stained with blood.

Detectives raided the boyfriend’s house in Ongata Rongai and seized evidence that could shed light on the case. A love letter found during the search hinted at a troubled relationship between the couple, potentially linking the discord to the murder.
The suspect, now the prime target in the investigation, remains at large as a manhunt intensifies. The family has urged law enforcement agencies to expedite the probe and apprehend the perpetrator.
“We appeal to the DCI to fast-track the investigation and bring justice for Lydia,” the family pleaded.
Detectives continue to comb the crime scene, hoping to gather critical evidence to piece together the events that led to this heinous crime.
