American Woman Survives 40 Days Chained to Tree by Husband in Indian Jungle
In a startling turn of events, 50-year-old American woman Lalita Kayi Kumar has been rescued from a remote Indian jungle after enduring a harrowing 40 days shackled to a tree.
The discovery was made by a local shepherd on Saturday, who found Kumar in a dire state—severely dehydrated, unable to speak, and suffering from a swollen leg caused by the iron chain that bound her.
Authorities suspect Kumar had been deprived of food for an extended period. Living in India for the past decade with her husband, Satish, Kumar has accused him of abandoning her in the forest following a domestic dispute.
In response, police have launched an attempted murder investigation against Satish, alongside charges of endangering life and wrongful confinement.
Despite her fragile condition, Kumar was able to communicate her ordeal through a written note from her hospital bed. Medical professionals, diagnosing her with psychiatric issues, believe these may have played a role in her tragic situation.
Investigators are now piecing together the circumstances leading up to Kumar’s ordeal. They are scrutinizing her relationship with Satish, the current status of their marriage, and the expiration of her visa.
As Kumar slowly recovers, her story has gripped the world, shedding light on the severe suffering she endured and sparking widespread concern and outrage.
