Adani Whistleblower Nelson Amenya Alleged Harassment of Family Over Adani Exposé
Nelson Amenya, the whistleblower at the center of the JKIA-Adani deal, took to social media on Tuesday to allege a series of unlawful actions by Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) against him and his family.
Amenya, who resides in France after exposing alleged hidden dealings between the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and Adani Group, claimed that the DCI had recently surveilled his family home in Kenya and may have planted listening devices there.
Sharing his experience on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Amenya explained that DCI officers arrived at his parents’ home under the guise of tracking a stolen vehicle, going as far as accessing the rooftop of the property before leaving abruptly. “In the past few days, the DCI Subaru gang visited my parents’ home, claiming they had traced a stolen vehicle to the compound.
They entered, went all the way to the rooftop, and then left (I suspect they bugged the place),” he stated. He went on to describe a similar encounter at a friend’s garage, where DCI officers supposedly logged information about several vehicles and promised further action.
The whistleblower issued a stern warning to those involved in what he described as intimidation tactics, stating, “Let this serve as a warning: I know exactly who you are. If anything happens to anyone connected to me, the whole world will know your names. You won’t hide behind faceless orders—you will be held personally responsible.”
Since Amenya’s disclosure of the alleged secret agreement between KAA and Adani, he has been vocal in naming high-ranking officials he believes were complicit. Amenya mentioned recent attempts to force his deportation through what he described as fabricated charges. “I’m aware of the threats from those that sued me to have me jailed, fabricating charges in an attempt to force my deportation. That will never happen—not in your wildest dreams!” he declared, reaffirming his commitment to remain outspoken.
In an escalating legal battle, Amenya has been restrained from publishing information linking Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot to the Adani deal following a court order issued on October 15. The ban will stay in effect until a hearing scheduled for October 22.
In his closing remarks, Amenya urged the DCI to address pressing issues impacting the country, such as corruption, violent crimes, and homicides, rather than targeting whistleblowers. “Instead of the DCI using valuable resources to target a harmless Kenyan whose only ‘crime’ was exposing state capture and the Adani secret deal with JKIA, focus on the real threats… Stop being weaponized against the very citizens you’re meant to protect,” he stated.
Amenya vowed to continue his fight for transparency and justice in Kenya, emphasizing his vision for a nation where law enforcement serves the people and resists political manipulation.
