11-Year-Old Australian Girl Stabbed Multiple Times in London’s Tourist Hub
An 11-year-old Australian tourist was brutally attacked and stabbed eight times by a stranger in London’s bustling Leicester Square earlier this week.
The young girl, who was visiting the city with her mother, was suddenly assaulted by 32-year-old Ioan Pintaru, who grabbed her in a headlock and viciously attacked her with a steak knife.
The horrifying incident took place on Monday at approximately 11:30 BST, leaving the child with severe injuries to her face, neck, wrists, and shoulders.
The attack was so grievous that she required immediate plastic surgery. Thankfully, after receiving urgent medical care, she has since been discharged from the hospital.
The Australian foreign ministry confirmed the girl’s nationality and announced that it is providing necessary assistance to both the young victim and her mother during this distressing time. UK authorities have confirmed that Mr. Pintaru, a Romanian national with no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody following a court appearance and is scheduled for another hearing on September 10th.
Despite the terrifying nature of the crime, police have stated that the attack is not believed to be terror-related.
